Wow! I haven’t posted in a while…four months and 10 days to be exact. I guess my life as a working mother has kept me busier than normal lately.
This evening, with longer daylight hours and warmer weather, the girls were outside playing and Tony was working from his laptop so I found myself with a few spare minutes. An email friend had shared a common acquaintance’s weblog address the other day (funny that I am blogging from Microsoft Word and both weblog and blogging have spell-check errors =) I was reading the blog with interest, then noticed a link to another blog and on and on. I observed that this was a group of former college friends and I was intrigued with their comments to each other, bantering, joking and debating.
Later, while doing dishes, I was thinking that it was such a neat way to keep in touch. Even though some were several states away from each other and one even across the ocean, they were still able to keep up with each other’s lives with the simple click of a mouse. Then I wondered why I couldn’t start that with my old school pals. “Oh yeah,” I thought, “most of them probably don’t even have email!” I remember taking typing on a manual typewriter! Now I am not THAT old, but obviously in my high school days, we were teetering on the edge of technology. My generation somehow just barely missed it.
And that led my mind in another direction…I wonder what I would know about computers if I hadn’t married a computer nerd? Would I still be using a Brother word processor? Would I have three email addresses to choose from? Would I know anything at all about web development and HTML; uploads and downloads; how to install a font; record a song with our computer recording software; take digital photos, resize and compress them? I guess those are questions that I will NEVER have the answer too. And that is too mind boggling for my brain to cope with at 11 p.m. because it leads me to a whole other world of what ifs??
