DollyWood

We spent three days taking in unlimited rides and the Festival of Nations at DollyWood. This is a theme park I am totally impressed with...from a dress code and no alcohol to extremely clean bathrooms! On the last day, we were joined by Travis and Jody Johnson and family.

Shows watched:

  • Ecuador's Atahualpa

  • Russian National Theatre

  • Zambia Vocal Group
  • Ireland's Rhythm of the Dance

  • Calpulli Mexican Dance Company

Rides enjoyed:

  • Amazing Flying Elephants

  • Dizzy Disk, Demolition Derby (bumper cars)

  • Lemon Twist (similar to Tea Cups)

  • Rockin' Roadway (50's cars)

  • Scrambler, Shooting Star

  • Veggie Tales Sideshow Spin (rollercoaster)

  • Village Carousel

  • Waltzing Swinger

  • Wonder Wheel (ferris wheel)

Janae did NOT enjoy the Dizzy Disk (sorry Travis and Jody, for the distraction :( and Kerrigan cut my ride short on the Ferris Wheel. I hollered to Tony that she was freaking out (slight exaggeration) and the lady running the ride heard me. She asked if she wanted out and I told her she was fine. The next time we came around they stopped and unbuckled us. Since we were the first ones on I assumed the ride was over and got off with her. To my surprise the ride started again without me!

Because it was raining off and on the first two days, we pretty much walked up to the rides and got on. At worst we had to wait one turn. Not so the third day! I had a 45 minute wait for my second try on the Ferris Wheel that day and we all definitely spent way more time in line than on the rides themselves.

We too love Dollywood! We went in October a couple of years ago and had a blast! It was perfect weather and the lines weren't bad at all! (Unlike when we usually go...July!)
We are going to Tennessee for 6 days in July and I absolutely cannot wait!
Thanks for sharing your pictures!

Fun Fun! I wondered if you met up with Travis and Jody.

My grandma lives a little over an hour from Gatlinburg and hopefully this summer we can meet Mike and Kim and take a day out and go there. We'll see. Everybody's schedules are so wonky....

Our kids were sooo mad they couldn't be there for the international festival, they love going during that time! We really enjoyed being there at Thanksgiving time, nice and relaxing.

You mean no Mystery Mine for you?

Absolutley not! We don't do roller coasters! Tony won't even get on the Ferris Wheel! And I only do it to prove to myself that I can get that high off the ground on a ride.
