No Chocolate Bunny?

We are such terrible parents that we didn't even get our kids very much candy for Easter. I don't know what the deal is but every year, I throw away the better portion of chocolate Easter bunnies that I find in their baskets stashed in their rooms. I decided that if they don't like 'em why buy 'em?

So, since we are saving all our extra pennies for spring break to be spent in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge next week, we bought the two younger ones a L'ilKins and Britnee got her very first "grown-up" CD. They also got spending money for vacation and some Crunch and Willy Wonka "Golden" eggs. They seemed happy enough and tonight or tomorrow we'll get more candy to their liking 50% off (or more :) I would have never dreamed of doing such a thing a few years ago!

I also didn't take one Easter photo because it seems like that is the main holiday that I have scrapped several years in a row. I thought I might get them to rate this Easter as more memorable for the fact that "Mom actually didn't get the camera out". But I didn't even hear a "thank you".

They DID get new clothes, dyed eggs and had a treasure hunt. And in typical Easter tradition, we had ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, mixed vegetables (my choice would have been fried green beans but Tony beat me to it), deviled eggs, candied sweet potatoes, homemade bread and cookie dough brownies for lunch. When we sat down to the dinner table (complete with tablecloth, nice dishes, glass glasses and Nonnie's special silverware) I overheard Janae saying to herself, "Wow, look at all the food! I can't wait until NEXT Easter!" So I don't think anyone noticed the lack of chocolate bunnies in their baskets.

I am with you on the half price candy. I bought a few things then went back yesterday! The hot tamale jelly beans are delish! Hey did you make the bread?

Would love to have the cookie dough brownie recipe!

Also, I tried fried green beans one time and enjoyed them but most of my batter came off when frying. The rest of my family couldn't stand them!

Sherry, Tony did the bread in the bread maker. It's a recipe that I got from Barb. Honey Oatmeal - yuM!

Michelle, I'll post the brownie recipe when I get a chance (heading to p/t conference). As for the green beans, our family has always just fried them in butter but no batter.

My kids didn't get a whole lot of candy either. (I don't need it. LOL) j/k

We were hosting for over 21 people for Easter so my pictures were kinda on the backburner & didn't turn out that great. :)

My kids didn't get much candy either and the gum was all sugar-free. I figure they get sooo much candy throughout the year, buy them something they can use. They got things like; note tablets, pencils, chap-stick, a few small toys, etc. Talon is getting kind of big for a basket, so I got him a gym bag and a hoodie (bnwt, for $8 for both)!
