Old Friends

I don't know where to start with this post. Do I talk about friends that you can just hang out with and be yourself around? Do I post about the hilarious statements of the blonde daughter? Do I mention that this "friend" was actually Tony's learning center monitor and lived with his family during the week for the school year? How about sharing that Katie was in our wedding? Or do I simply say that we went miniature golfing this weekend with some friends?

How about all of the above? This wonderful family pictured here are probably our very closest friends. They have been with us through the hard times and we have also had many, many laughs together through the years. Our kids get along famously (although I do feel sorry for Katie knowing that she probably gets really bored hanging out with us and no one her age). Words fail express what their friendship means to us but let's suffice it to say we can "let our hair down" when we are with the Graf's and that means everything in a friendship.

We had not been able to get together for a few weeks so though Tony and I were plain exhausted, we really wanted to meet with them even if only for a short time. They so graciously humored us by meeting for miniature golf and ice cream (which ended up being custard - and not very good custard I'm afraid :(

Katie, who was the flower girl in our wedding (pictures to come at the end of this month :) since her Mommy was like a big sister to Tony (for reasons mentioned earlier in this post), always provides the humor in our visits with her blonde moments. This time she had ordered nachos and cheese. They gave her an enormous amount of nachos and very little cheese. When she went up to the window (of which there were two sets of two windows) to ask for more, she turned to us and said, "When I go to this window it says 'Next Window Please', and when I go to that window it says, 'Next Window Please.' " She was clearly in distress as to how to proceed. I suggested that she try window #3. It was available :) If only I'd had a video camera at the ready.

Thanks, Grafs, for an entertaining and relaxing few hours. It was good therapy and much needed! Let's do it again soon. By the way, does anyone know who won the golf game?

How do you do it Sara?? You make us sound so special--you actually made me cry!! You are all so special to us, our family that is not QUITE family--but still accepts us the way we are--and even chooses to be with us once in a while!! We love you all!

I agree, Sara. It was a treat to see their smiling faces on your blog. I'm addicted to it, you know...your blog, that is. Well, their faces, too. :-D

Katie, you don't hate me TOO much for sharing your funny window story, do you? I hope not. It made me laugh and I need all the humor I can get these days. So it was a good thing :)

Hey, Pam! I guess I know what to post to bring you out of lurkdom, eh? Eleanor told me that you read my blog, but I choose to try and forget that li'l comment. Otherwise I'd critique and re-critique every thing I said b/c an "author" is reading :)

Eleanor, then I am 2 for 2. Made my sister cry earlier today, too. And I didn't do anything to make you sound special. You just are!

You could have enjoyed their company with us on Friday night as well, if you'd all been there! I know, you were out shopping and that is pretty important to us women : )
