Anniversary Quiz

I guess since the quiz is now buried under other posts, I should tell you the correct answer:

1. Tony proposed to me on Nov 6, 1992 -
TRUE - he told me on our fourth date that he wanted me to be his wife...I told him I would love to be and we started planning the wedding on the way home (it was snowing BIG, HUGE snowflakes - it wasn't exactly a planned proposal so no fancy restaurant or setting but it worked :)

2. I published a newsletter called “The Bridal Bulletin” to update friends on wedding plans -
TRUE - blogs weren't in existence back then...shoot, EMAIL wasn't even in existence!

3. Our first date included Bill Knapp’s and a walk on the Tridge -
TRUE - we went to Midland, Michigan, had a nice meal at Bill Knapp's (I knew he was the ONE when I was actually able to consume MOST of the food on my plate without puking) then I directed him to the Tridge for a romantic walk which didn't end up being romantic at all since we walked 6 feet apart and it was FREEZING COLD!

4. Tony kissed me on our first date -
FALSE - if he would have, I wouldn't have gone out with him again (he waited until the third date :) (note of interest, we went to hear fellow blogger, Michelle's dad, Steve Hight preach on our second date)

5. We changed our wedding date 3 times -
TRUE - we set a Dec 18 date so my sister and her family could come home (her dh was a school administrator and would have the week off) but my dad said NO WAY, too busy, so we moved it up to Nov 27, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. After a year of planning, I wanted to elope and Tony was very wise and wouldn't let me do that, so we bumped the wedding up to Oct 30 (would have been sooner but couldn't get a hall for the reception) and cut the whole production in half

6. My mom and I practically lived at Meijer the week after Christmas waiting for the trees to go 75% off so I could buy one for our reception -
TRUE - the original plan was to have a Christmas wedding so the gifts were going to go under a tree decorated with teal and purple bulbs :)

7. Our wedding colors were purple and teal -
TRUE - I'd always envisioned my wedding to be burgundy but Tony liked teal...obviously that wasn't going to work, so purple was my second choice and that was our first compromise (purple and teal were NOT a popular color combo yet but by the next year, it was everywhere! weird!)

8. My bridesmaids carried decorative violins made by my father -
TRUE - see previous post about a Christmas wedding...even after changing the date, my girls' dresses were still Victorian so the violins stayed (photos will be posted at the end of the month)

9. We kept our engagement a secret for 7 weeks b/c we figured our parents would kill us for getting engaged too quick -
TRUE - although I should not have had to worry...my parents were married 17 days after they MET! So really, what could they say? I was more worried about his parents than mine :)

10. My niece was my maid of honor -
TRUE - my niece is closer in age to me than my sisters - 3 years younger vs 8 or more years older.

Good for Tony! Jonathan didn't kiss me for 3 months! (We didn't see each other that often though!)

I need to make a disclaimer about that, Karen. Tony said I make myself sound like a saint and him not so much. It really wasn't that way at all. But I was looking for a mature gentleman at this point in my life :) I'd had enough of the other kind :) :)

Yes...I got it right!
I still do remember something from my teen years, which some days seem to be about 30 yrs. ago, HA! So glad you all got together, I tried liking 3 of those Derscheid boys, but God didn't have any of them in my future! So glad of that too : ) No offense Tony, lol!

I didn't know you waited for 7 weeks to make the "announcement"! And, yes, I had Nichole for a playmate for you! Then she ended up being your MOH. By the way, what does "dh" mean - as in my sister's dh was school admin ... Dear Husband???? Not up to speed, I guess.

What a beautiful memory - dad making those violins. He also made a Lot of the bases for the hurricane globes you decorated the tables with at the reception. I used them for MANY parties for years afterwards.
