A Moment of Silence

My beloved cookie jar has housed it's last cookie. I don't remember when it first broke around the rim but it was shortly after I bought it. You can see where I lovingly bandaged it with duct tape - more to keep the rest of us from wearing bandages than for it's own personal comfort.

The duct tape worked quite well for many years. But today when I took off the lid with plans to remove the store-bought oreos (that aren't even true Oreos - sad, I know) and replace them with homemade chocolate chip and krinkle cookies, the duct tape came loose taking a chunk of the jar with it. I wounded my hand - well, okay, there wasn't any blood but it still hurts like crazy.

Anyway, I had visions of my careless children reaching their hand in and the images I envisioned weren't pretty! So I decided to take a picture to preserve the memory of my much-loved cookie jar and now it's in the trash. I'm sure I won't find another quite like it.
