Trendy or Traditional?

I've been wanting a new set of dishes for a couple years. I had it narrowed down to a few choices and then we moved and ended up with a seperate dining room and painted it a compeltely different color than I planned. My kitchen is canary yellow and the dining room is kind of a light mossy green, called Wetlands by Kilz. I have red accents in my kitchen and right now my "theme" of sorts is kind of an artsy pear. I don't necessarily want fruit in my dining room or any particular theme but I would like the colors to coordinate. I've scoped out the dishes on Corelle and narrowed my choices down to two. The real question is do I want a temporary fix or something that will last awhile? One set is cheaper and more trendy while the other is about twice as much but would be "in-style" longer. Based on my facts and thoughts, what's your vote?

Actually, I like them both. I guess you'll have to show us a picture of the room. We need to see them in the proper context.

Yeh, this is a tough vote. Based on only the dishes, I'd go with the second set. I love bright colors (of course, I have red walls in my kitchen!) :)

Okay, I am going to be different and pick the first set! (I have apples in my kitchen though!) Get what you like best, you will use them for a long time so "splurge" a little!!!

I think I'd go with the 2nd set, but that's me. I tend to pick things that are more casual and the 1st one seems a little dressy. I like them both, though.

Hmmmm...maybe I should get one set for everyday and the other for company :) I got dh's verbal vote...he says traditional. Didn't like the other one at all. And going by Angie's post, in the proper context with my grandmother's Duncan Fife table and chairs, I'd say traditional. BUT when there is a table cloth on the table you don't really see it...so...rats, I'm back at square one!

Ok, I vote for the 1st but cover either of them with mashed potatoes, fried chicken, green beans and homemade bread and I can guarantee noone will care what they look like. Plus put a big slab of chocolate cake on a dessert plate and you are good to go. P.S. I have apples!

I think the first ones match your decor better, but that's just my opinon.
